Messenger of the Sky II Necklace

Eagles often visit our land here and sometimes they leave us a token, one of their feathers. One of the indigenous people's names for this great being is wing flapper. Although the silhouette of an eagle and hawk are very similar from a dis-tance, the characteristic wing movement of eagle is easy to distinguish. The eight foot wing span makes its movement appear to be in slow motion or possibly in another time dimension. When watching an eagle fly, sometimes I am carried into a quiet sullness similar to the place I experience in meditation.

When an Eagle appears to a medicine person, this encounter has more meaning than the mere physical beauly of flight. This meeting is called a Sweet Medicine Gift, and adds significance to the thoughts, feelings, or ceremony of the moment.
